12/10/2023 0 Comments Sorenson captioncall![]() I have known people who have worked there longer than twice my time and they have hardly had any raises or work benefits at all, not including the 401K (which isn't nearly enough to compensate for the under $12/hr wages and lack of growth opportunities) but hey, you can at least set your own hours to a fixed schedule and have easy access to an online database for getting time off and trading shifts, that's more than any retail or food service job I've worked has had to offer. Talking at such a fast pace with only one or two bathroom breaks allowed out of the shift (not including lunch) quickly became exhausting, so not only did you have to talk in a monotone voice at the speed of wind and dictate all punctuation, you were battling fatigue as well. Because the job is to dictate calls verbatim into your computer, you literally have no time to breathe. It was a good job at first, but it got ridiculously fast paced after Covid hit in 2020. 8hr day, with 2/15min or 3/10min breaks and 30min lunch, with tremendous schedule flexibility. I looked forward to logging in and proceeding to caption and actively edit calls continuously, as well Mentoring others toward doing same. What is a typical day like for you at the company? When the platform(s) that had supported previously clear and effective communication, were no longer maintained and a formerly customer/QA based operation turned toward one primarily of product/business growth, it was disorienting. ![]() The almost entirely remote program CaptionCall developed amazingly quick amidst Covid to allow for the safe handling of call volume that had increased, triple-fold - was a welcome yet, challenging transition while the company was reorganizing after having been sold. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Learning to utilize language and various, ever changing/improving software and programs to be able to participate in increasing communications between people specifically, within the HOH community. What is the best part of working at the company?
